Private Label Supplement Lead Times: From Order to Delivery
A lead time is only useful when its starting point and included stages are clear. Here is what to confirm before setting a launch date.

Ask when the clock starts
A quoted lead time might start when the order is placed, when artwork is approved or when all ingredients and packaging components have arrived. These are not the same date. Ask the manufacturer to define the start event and the delivery event in the quotation.
For a useful project calendar, separate sample review, final specification, pack artwork, material procurement, production, quality review and transport. Ask which stages can run in parallel and which must be completed before the next begins. Do not turn a best-case production window into a promised launch date.
Identify the decisions that hold production
An existing private label formula can shorten formulation work, but the product still needs a confirmed pack, quantity and market. A new flavour, a particular ingredient source or a custom-printed component can change the plan. The same applies when the chosen packaging has a separate supplier or minimum run.
Sampling also needs an approval owner. Give the team one consolidated response on flavour, texture, serving and pack. Repeated changes after a sample is approved can reopen specification and artwork work. Record the approved version and the date it was released for production.
Build a date with room for verification
Manufacturing is not the final step. In-process checks, any product-specific testing, batch documentation and release need time. The finished goods then have to be packed for transport and delivered to the stated location. Ask what documentation is available at dispatch and whether your own retailer or importer needs additional review.
Work backward from the date when the product must be in your customer’s hands, not merely from the day you want it to leave the factory. Include receiving, product photography, listing approval and launch inventory in your internal calendar. Those tasks belong to the brand, even if production is on schedule.
Request a project-specific timeline
Vitaminlabs confirms timing against the selected formula, format, pack, quantity and destination. We do not publish one lead-time number for every product because it would conceal these differences. Share your target launch date early so that the feasibility discussion can begin with the real constraint.
The outcome of the first conversation should be a sequence of approvals and assumptions: what the brand will supply, what Vitaminlabs will confirm and which changes would require a revised schedule. A timeline with those dependencies is more useful than an isolated number of weeks.
