Custom Supplement Formulation Without a Separate Development Fee
At Vitaminlabs, custom formulation does not carry a separate development fee. The commercial difference is a higher minimum production order.

Separate the development fee from the production commitment
Brands often ask how much a new supplement formula costs before they have defined the product or quantity. That question can hide two different commercial models: a separate payment for development work and the minimum production order required for a custom formula.
Vitaminlabs does not charge a separate custom formulation development fee. A custom project does, however, require a higher project-specific minimum order than a comparable private label starting point. There is no single published quantity that applies to every formula and format. The actual minimum is confirmed during the quotation process.
Why a custom minimum is different
A private label project begins with an established formulation direction. A custom project begins with requirements that have to be assessed together: ingredients, target amounts, format, flavour, packaging and manufacturing feasibility. That work also has to translate into a production run that can be planned and made consistently.
The minimum therefore depends on the product rather than on the word 'custom'. An individually packed powder, a flavoured drink and a capsule formula do not use identical materials, production steps or packaging components. Ask for the minimum against your chosen specification, not against a generic format page.
Plan the whole first order
Bring an estimated quantity, target pack size and destination market to the first conversation. Even if the quantity is provisional, it helps test whether the project can be produced commercially. Review the quotation as a complete order: formula, sample approvals, filling, packaging, product-specific testing, documentation and delivery assumptions.
The minimum order is the commercial commitment for this route. The written proposal should define the product and the quantity being ordered, the approvals required before production and how a later change to the brief would be handled. Vitaminlabs does not add a separate formulation-development charge.
Decide with the expected demand in view
A custom formula is useful when the product needs differentiation that an existing direction cannot provide. If the first run is intended only to test whether any customers want the category, a private label starting point may be worth comparing. If the brief already depends on a distinct formula or sensory experience, consider whether the higher order commitment fits the brand's sales plan.
Send Vitaminlabs the intended consumer, formula direction, format, pack and expected quantity. We can discuss the project-specific minimum and whether custom development is the right commercial route before a production commitment is made.
